This is all completely valid & a common reality for many folks. At the same time, I wonder if the bracing & resistance leading up to the season plays a role in creating the unpleasant experience.
As I felt these fearful sensations coming up in myself, I began asking myself:

Is there a way to embrace the descending, contracting & inward yin energy of the winter season?
Is there the opportunity to prepare for & approach the season with ease, openness & curiosity for what winter has to teach me?

This 1/2 day retreat is for women identifying folks (16+) who wish to be part of a feminine collective who share a like-mindedness, hold space for eachother & encourage eachother to reach their highest potentional.
It’s not everyday women come together to honour, empower & nourish eachother. This workshop is designed specifically to hold space do so in the comforts of the of Mother nature.
IT’S THE PERFECT SELF CARE DAY!
The aspects of this workshop have been consciously selected as they each bring their own healing, empowerment & groundedness to the space:
Nature is a powerful healing agent. For centuries, people have used the resources of the land to heal including wild herbs, holistic foods, forest spaces etc. Nature has been known to boost mood, increase creativity, relieve stress & anxiety, promote groundedness etc. This workshop is situated outdoors so we can embrace the beautiful healing properties of the nature around us!*
Gentle movement (yoga) is a mindfulness-based somatic practice that allows the mind to calm, the nervous system to regulate & the breath the flow. Moving the body allows stagnant energy to flow, relieving the body of stuck unwanted energy. Gentle movement allows you to connect interospectively to body’s unique communication.
Somatic Body Based Practices is intential movement. This is the idea we hope for in a yoga class, however our mind & ego can get in the way when practicing in a typical yoga class with thoughts about what we look like, pushing our boundaries & comparing ourselves. Somatic body-based practices focus on the sensations in the body, rather than the physical appearance of the movement. It focuses on processing & moving stuck energy in the body that can often be a creator of anxiety, racing thoughts, pain & worry.
Breathwork is the only autonomic system we can adjust to our own benefit! Breath has a direct connection to the nervous system, giving us the ability to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system for ease during stressful & anxious moment. Slow, deep belly breaths eases the mind, body & nervous system allowing you to feel more grounded & connected to the body.
Intential journaling is creativity with the purpose of expressing, understanding & processing emotions, feelings & thoughts through written words. It gives you the opportunity to get what you need out of the mind & into a different space for you to critically analyze at a later date.
Meditation is a mindfulness-based practice that invites stillness & awareness to the mind & body. It is not about stopping thoughts; but rather about being aware of, understanding, redirecting & processing them. It provides the space to engage with the present moment, to focus on the breath & to JUST BE.
Forest Bathing is a mindfulness-based practice that invites the use of all senses as you immerse yourself in nature. Research shows that being in nature has the ability to improve mood, promote relaxation, strengthen immunity & ignite creativity!
Holistic Nutrition is our most intimate connection with the outside world. What we put in our body impacts us greatly on a physical, mental & spiritual level. Kelsey will discuss with you the benefits of nourishing your body with whole nutrient dense foods in order to maintain optimal health, and you will be provided with a nutrient packed gluten free plant-based lunch (customizations will be made for those with food allergies, sensitivities & aversions).
Creativity provides us agency, perspective & confidence to freely express who we are & how we wish to show up. It allows us to connect with & express freely our likes, dislikes, desires, thoughts, feelings, emotions in the absence of words. It provides us with space to be exactly as we are in that moment. Creativity is a free-flowing, all inclusive energy that opens the mind, the heart & the soul to new possibilities. Research shows that engaging in creativity:

In this workshop you will be invited to create your own plaster texture canvas. You will have all the tools needed to create your unique texture plaster canvas art which can be displayed in your home as a reminder of your unique feminine energy.
PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOW ITEMS WITH YOU:
A YOGA MAT — or a couple blankets if you don’t have a mat
YOGA PROPS — blocks, strap, bolster (if you have them)
A BLANKET — for extra comfort
COMFORTABLE CLOTHES — to move & create in
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER — i.e. hat, sunscreen, bug spray, layers etc
WATER — for hydration
A JOURNAL + WRITING TOOL — for intention setting & purposeful journaling
* Workshop is weather permitted, if it is raining the workshop will be rescheduled to the following weekend (Saturday August 26th 2023). If you are unable to attend the rain date, you will be 100% refunded.
